how much can i tow with my 1991 3318is

has anyone towed a utility trailer 4x8 with your 1991 318is

what set up did you use class one hitch?

any one got any pics of this ?

only looking to haul less than 600 pounds plus the weight of the trailer ?

Not a good idea. Trailer+cargo will be getting close to the weight of the car, which becomes unsafe. It might be possible and people may have done it without incident, but I wouldn't.

600lb isn't a lot, but you have to add the weight of the trailer. And then you have to consider the terrain encountered on the trip. If the load would fit on a small utility trailer that only weighed a couple of hundred pounds and the trip would not encounter mountains, you could probably get away with it.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I had a 1985 auto 318i W/4'x8' trailer hauling 316JD tractor/snow blade 12 miles round trip after heavy snowstorms. No pics, don't know exact weight. Had to be close to 650#-700# (maybe more) total combined. Pulled it off every time, felt like a Semi hauling a Saturn V rocket. Not that i have done this, but you get the idea.

I think the main concern here is going to be lack or torque! Don't stop on any hills...

^Won't be an issue if his brakes can't handle the Utah mountains...
