I walked away somehow with an unbelievably little amount of damage from a very serious accident. My hips still hurt a couple of weeks later due to the bucket seats keeping me in my place (and almost pulling my leg out of the socket) along with those god damn beautiful E30 seatbelts.
I was driving up Lake Hills Connector in Bellevue and turning left onto SE 8th st. It was ~7:00PM at night and it was pouring rain and there was snow on the ground. I had a flashing yellow yield and saw no one coming.I was driving pretty slow (E30+snow) I was taking the left and BAM. It was done.
I don't really know how it happened at all... No one has been ticketed yet but it is going to be a difficult fight. I just talked to my insurance earlier and they stated that the impact appears to be a 50MPH+ collision. My car slid ~20 feet (two full lanes) from the impact.
Where the car was coming from (by car I mean Suburban) was downhill and around a corner before going through the intersection. He did have right of way, I had a flashing yellow arrow, but if he was going 50mph (35mph speed zone, and look at the pictures... that is NOT a 35mph collision) I would have ~2 seconds from first view of him to impact. In good conditions. Anyway I didn't have a chance. Didn't see him, no horn, no brake pedal just blamo. I plan to fight this but it is going to be a mess.
Most important part is I walked away. No ambulance, no ER, no serious damage. I had glass in my mouth but not a scratch on me.
Anyways wanted to let you all know that you made the right choice of car. Fun, full of character, great looking, super comfortable, I could go on. I'll miss her, I thought I would always keep this car. Its too soon for me to think of other E30's. It just makes me sad.
