I am also wondering that for my car. I want to know what the options are and the advantages/disadvantages.

for the thread by JoelKaplan about his breaking. There is a discussion on the IE mounts in it.

I don't have the IEs, but have ridden in a car with them - no harshness that I noticed.

i have em in my car..

what you sacrifice is a little bit more vibration throughout the cabin when the car is cold..when it warms up its not that noticeable..

they are much stiffer than the stock mounts and are close to $30 per mount!!

you will need to trim them a bit so that the mounts fit in with no issues..

by trim i mean the parts that get bolts on em..lol i wish i could describe it more specifically, but the point is that you'll have to cut them a little bit

somewhere in auto-x rules, i think, i found something about using oe mounts from other vehicles being allowed, and aftermarket not. THAT"S about the only reason I see the need to get some 535 mounts.

IE are good and cheap enough. no mods needed.

it really depends on the club you autox in, in my non-SCCA clubs motor mounts are free in most of the classes my car is eligable for.

i want to eventually auto-cross but not because i think ill be good at it just because i want to see if ill like it. I just wanted a couple options for motor mounts and then decide from there. As of now ill probably get the IE mounts since they are only like 50 bucks. OEM mounts from the BMA are at least 200 for the pair so fuck that.

The roughness from the IE mounts, ill deal with it. The trimming of the e28 mounts i dont want to deal with haha.
