pulled cluster, check this crap out

Pulled cluster, this was my first thought...

    This is what I see.

Why on earth would someone do this? Do you have to change this plug if you go from a VDO cluster to a motometer? There's a motometer in there now. Or is that an older/newer plug?

Someone broke in and destroyed the harness somehow... or the PO likes cock meat sandwiches.

There is no reason to do that when switching between clusters of any type.

Motometer and VDO gauges are exactly the same and interchangeable. Maybe the previous owner put a really early model cluster in a late model or visa versa? Even then though I'm not sure you would have to do anything.

      What year/model is your car?

Probably some idiot trying to steal something else cut the wires?

probably PPO took the old cluster out and then the PO had to wire a new plug in.

My euro cluster came with the plugs so I know some poor e30 is out there with just wire ends.

Or could have had a short/fire and toasted the connector.

If you do nothing else - get rid of the wire nuts. I'd suggest some solder and heat-shrink on all of the wires. You should be able to fix that back up and get it looking decent.

Yeah I have messed with car audio forever, besides mechanical working on cars, I can fix it, going to cut all the b/s connectors out and solder it.

Its a '90 325is, cluster looks late model

it looks like the wire colors match 1:1, so I'm going with somebody broke into the car or there was some other damage that had to be repaired.

                  but, I'm being optimistic..

it can be done.. you just have to be careful. I would prefer to crimp critical components like safety systems and the engine, but experienced soldering for the cluster should be fine.
