Dammit!! I blew something in my M20 Trubo!

WHile I was runing or doing some race with my friend's VW golf 1.8T light tuned(20.6 PSI) I decided to turn up the boost from 5-6 PSI to 8-9 PSI, but when I hit these numbers 8-9 PSI start the pinging or knock, so this time I didn't want loose, and I won!

WHen I arrived at the stop light, I noticed it was smoking like vapor train....soonely started to fail my engine like if it were a missfire or unpluged the spark cable... it was smoking a white densed smoke smelling a lot of oil, not color blue, just white.

So I drove carefully to my home then to my shopp, I did a light checked with my mechanic and we think it can be some things,

-Blew the Head gasket , and the water and most probably the oil is incoming in the cylinders

-I did a hole in any Piston( but the engine it quite, is not reproducing any kind of noise )

-Or the aluminum head is dead!

other thing that I noticed was the water coming out or making some bubbles from the exhaust compressor ...

We will see what I will find there

PD: Yes I know I have to put a bigger injectors, this time I will do that! :( :drink:

The fact that the engine has been pinging all this time should have told you something... :?

When an engine is pinging under load, its essentially saying "hey man.....I'm not liking this one bit. Keep it up and you'll be sorry." Its unfortunate that this happened...but it looks like this lesson is going to be a costly one. Be more careful.

Nope, well yes, but with the help of a Voretch FMU that raises the fuel press twice, it's a 10:1

With 6 PSI no pinging, with 8-9 was pinging like crazy....that was my fall, I couldn't resist to race him and the won him! I'm a idiot!

Well after taking down the head I will upgrade the Turbo and the IC....with luck the engine didn't get hurt....hope so... :?

DOn't know exactly, we asume that his VW has 220 HP not WHP, well that's my guess, his car came I think with 180 factory, mine came with 170 HP, 145whp, he told he was beating stock Subarus Imprezas Turbo, so if he was beating them, and I won over him I also can beat WRXs...somes of corse

he is runing stock components, just a boost controller up to 20.6 PSI, even with that press was not enough to beat me bimmer.

My bimmer is my own project using a Garret T3 with 6 PSI, raced him with 8-9PSI

I like it, it has potential, but not so much of corse, if I have the chance to put a M30, the 3.5L with turbo or a m50 turbo I should go for the 12 valve 3.5L either way, a lot more torque!

But yes, in generall it's a nice mini powerplant with the turbo ours m20s

                            Sad to hear!

Drain oil, see if there is any metal pieces or coolant. If its coolant, you got lucky and probably blew your headgasket.

                            :(

Regrets mean, do you feel bad about what happened? Would you do it again knowing what you now know?
