    So there.

How much was the UUC kit though? Perhaps I should just save up for the UUC. However its hard to warrant paying that much for a short shift kit. Perhaps I will use the 2.5 z4 kit.

Could it be the thermoplastic bushing at the end of the selector rod. I was reading on UUC's website about problems with binding when the thermoplastic is first getting broken in.

            Just a thought.

I think so as well. Any new parts on any new car needs to be broken in. Once the pieces are a bit worn after a few days of driving, it will smoothen out.

The UUC kit in my opinion is overpriced. They take a factory Z3 rod, weight it down modify it a little, bend it, and call it a short shift kit. And they give you a few new metallic bushings to put in. But I can't be bitter at them for being smart like this and selling a product that people love.

I installed a UUC kit on one of the E3S' guy's E30, and I just didn't like it at all. Well that's my opinion.

I feel that the type of shifting from the UUC kit can be obtained with regular OEM parts.

It's a custom rod with delrin carrier bushings, I've actually got the old "Competition" kit with the included ERK as well. Excellent kit, much nicer than any of the Z3/Z4 conversions I've tried.

another bitch about the UUC stuff, their 'height adjustment' feature is a complete joke. I installed one in a friends e36 m3, and not only did I need you use a big wrench and vise to adjust it, it only moved maybe 1/4 of an inch...

What I want to know is, why doesnt anyone make a truely adjust lever, with the pivot ball mount on threads? I've seen it in olther makes before, and would make great sense in a bmw, it'd be truly custom....

Korman used to, 5-6 years ago, I don't know if they still offer it, I haven't done business with them in a while.

So does the Z4 3.0l shifter knock anything on a m20 tranny? I took a look at the m roadster shifter and it seems really long on the lower end. Would I hit the driveshaft?

                        Thanks

If you don't bend the rod, you'll hit the harmonic balancer on the shaft. Or you could just remove the balancer...

On my M Coupe shifter I could not see any possible way to install it WITH the harmonic balancer, in fact even after I bent the rod I had to remove the balancer.

I only have about 4mm worth of clearance between my driveshaft and shift lever,

                                Mystikal hasn't replied yet......he has a Z4 shifter.

but i've driven his car, and it does not take alot of effort to change gears, atleast not that way ur describing it.

Maybe it wasn't installed right? maybe you didn't change all the parts that need to be changed? As for it being worn in...im not sure, but Jay never complained about it.
