    Tape player ate my Tape!

How do I get a tape to eject if the stupid thing wont eject on its own?

You openly admit to still using a tape player? Perpare to be flamed :P

As to resolving your issue....did any odd noise occur when you inserted said tape? If this is the OEM unit it could be a case of a worn part failing. I'm no stereo expert....heck I can barely install one. My M20/Stromung soundtrack is all I need :-D

Well, considering i preferre the look of the stock HU over some of these new ones, and that most aftermarket HU's dont sit flush with the rest of the center consul, and the ones that do cost way too much than I would be willing to pay for a CD player, and that i have a CD changer, and maybe sometimes I like to play some tapes.

Soo much for wanting a cars interior to look clean and original.

I had this happen and tried to pry the tape out with a screwdriver. Needless to say that was a bad idea. Best thing is to take the whole receiver out and see if you can see which part is getting stuck.

Which radio model do you have?
                      Alpine 9507?
Remove the radio, and look for a slot on the top. Sliding a screwdriver down this slot will release the tape.

My guess is that this will not work. Remove the top (use the proper #1 philips driver or you will strip the screws) and help the tape up as you slide the lever that was under the slot. You'll need the top metal plate to locate the proper point on the mechanism, as it's not obvious.

Use a foam swab and alcohol to clean off the mechanism.

Oh, you may need a 5 sided driver to release the clamps that hold the radio in. If you don't have one, buy a dollar store tiny screwdriver set. A cheap slotted driver will be soft enough to jam in the screw, where a good quality hardened screwdriver won't work.

Kyle, I know how to fix it...

Step 1, remove stock head unit
                          Step 2, throw it away
