Check for a good ground on the spark generator (on the firewall blower motor cover)

I'm nearly certain that putting a "computer box" from a diffrent model car into your car will cause it to not start. Your dme numbers have to match (found on the bottom of your ecu).

check the distributor, it should have a little connector on the side which has 2 wires on it (may be 3, been a bit since I've looked)

Make sure that is nice and tight, otherwise it won't know engine RPM.

I presume this has the L-Jetronic ECU? If it won't go above 1000 it sounds like the spark generator has no idea what the RPM is. Just a hunch though.

                  thanks james
it does a have a jetronic system
where would i find the spark generator?

could it the fuel pressure from the pump?

                  thanks again

Its mounted on the blower motor cover (firewall) small little silver plate with a rubber cap on it, with a connector coming down.

                    Its near the fusebox.
