Lol, just for shits and giggles in my previous daily/autox car 04 r32, the best mileage I could get was about 21-22mpg mixed driving...and the worst.... about 10-12mpg on the track heh.

for the guys saying m20's should be getting in the 20's constantly...try living in a city that is all hills, has a stop sign or traffic signal on every fuckin block, stop n go traffic on all freeways, then tell me what kinda MPG yer getting... i gaurantee it will be shitty like 16city/20highway...

I've been gettin around 15-17 in town. And, on the highway, I get around 20-21. lol I like to keep my car above 100 - so I'm pretty sure that has something to do with it.

To the people running M30s, are they B34s or B35s?

My dads M90 (early euro 3.5, overbored etc) gets 22mpg on the highway and about 20 in the city.... 3.07 diff.

But my B32 with bigger injectors and higher fuel pressure than stock gets 26 to 27 COMBINED in my 3250lb E28 body with 3.46 gears. Damn, can there really be that big of a difference?? The B32 has a 272 cam compared to the US spec 3.4s 260cam, and you have to rev the thing to move as fast as a 3.4. My Euro 6 series had an M90 3.5 like my dads, with the same AFM and ECU ( 008 ) as my 5 series, and it got about 24mpg combined with a 3.25LSD.

This is pretty interesting... I'll be sure to post what I get in my 335i with the euro 3.5 and 3.25LSD.

My POS eta got a average of around 21-23 in town, about 28 highway, with the exception of a high of 35 mpg. The 325is got a best overall of 26.7mpg (crusin' back roads in nuetral and 5th) but overall now is from 22 to 26 mpg. Right now it says 24.5.

I'll have to check out the trip meter readings for the next 2 tanks though.

I get 24 - 25mpg on OR off the freeway.

But I do my best to save fuel. Anticipate traffic lights, keep the car clean and empty, clearing out useless crap, drive behind big trucks...

No so good! With mixed city highway driving I only got 16.9 MPG. That was with keeping the revs low, lots of coasting, and very, very easy accelarations.

This week, I'm going to see what the *worst* MPG I can get. I'll keep the same mixed city/highway driving that I do every week, But this time I'm going to rev the hell out of the fucker and goose it as often as I can. Anyone care to guess what I'll get?

                    ...
and everyone thought my 1960's technology 5.9L pushrod v8 in my jeep was soooo bad for only getting 14-15avg and 20 on the freeway.

No, I meant B34 or B35. Most people don't use the B32 in their M30 swaps because 3.2 liters isn't enough for an E30... Nevermind that the motor came in E28s and they ran great... The B34 is the 3430cc M30 that they used from ~1982 to ~1988, the B35 came after that with higher compression, different head (with fully hemispherical combustion chambers), larger valves, blah blah blah and made 208-211hp depending on the source, instead of the B34 (US Spec) 185hp.

I consistently get 27 mpg in my '90 325is 5 speed. It has no cat, headers, chip, cone filter and synthetic oil (motor, tranny & diff.). I use premium fuel.
