    Injector Options

I am planning ahead for an egine rebuild this summer and have some questions regarding the fuel injectors. 85' 325e.

I had heard you can use a whole variety of infectors in this system. So I was looking at these:

    Ford: 1986-95 5.0L Mustang, 30 lb./hr. fuel injectors

Ford Motorsports offers this set of eight high-flow rate fuel injectors that are specifically designed for performance applications. The injectors work best with air meters with revised calibrations, and have been specially trimmed for high flow rates.

    Would these work?

Any tips or articles on injector alternatives for the E30?

I did some more checking and I found something interesting.

All E30's use injectors with 14.5-17.5 ohm resistence, EXCEPT:
325e models made after sept.84' use 2.0-3.0 ohm resistence.
    (Bentley, sect. 6 page 19)

This would leave me to believe that my 85 325e use "low impedence" injectors.

    If this is true then this opens up new doors, check these out from Mopar;

    P5249452 45lbs/hr $35 Low Impedance universal application

All of the aftermarket low impedence injectors have huge flow rates.

Any one verify this data concerning high impedence and low impedence injectors?

Boy, I must be bored tonight.

Found information and verified my question.

Injector impedance describes the electrical resistance of the solenoid windings. These are usually grouped in two categories:

      Low- 1.7 to 3.0 ohms
      High- 10 to 16 ohms

Looks like I found my new injectors :-)

is this going to be a stock or near stock rebuild? 30# is waaaaay overkill for even a built M20b25, no way you'd need that much on an ETA.. you're probably fine with the stock injectors, realistically, unless you plan on getting an i head and building the shit out of the motor. I'm running 19# on my i engine and I'm happy with the results.

Wait until the McHenry boys show up. They both freaked when I assumed 21.5# injectors would be okay to use in my 2.5i.

30lbs, they would smack you on principle.

They respect proper combustion. I can't blame them for getting offended by my crimes against the machine. ;) Don't worry, I made things right. My 21.5# went to Bryson, and I got his 19lb'ers. :)
