    oil service light came on

what is the difference between this light on the cluster and the "engine oil" light on the check panel? the check panel light came on pretty much exactly 3000 miles from when I last changed the oil, so I figured it was telling me I needed to change the oil, so did. its only.been about 1000 miles since that last oil change and the cluster oil service light just came on. what's the deal?

check pannel light is for oil level, oil service light on the cluster is a reminder light to change the oil.

ok, then what is the oil "can" light on the far right side of the cluster for? I thought that was an indicator that oil level was low?

Oil can light is oil pressure (low). It comes on at 7 lbs i think.

ok so any idea why the oil service light would come on when it hasn't even been 1500 miles since my last oil change? the car's only got 115k on it, '89 325i

^I did that and blew fuse 12. If I did it again I'd put a fuse on the reset wire.
