    No throttle response at idle

Okay, this problem has been plauging me for some time now. Ever since I did the motronic 1.3 swap I've never had good throttle response at idle. I have the 173 ecu and it helped a little. Basically what happens is if I go to snap the throttle, or even just blip it a little it nearly dies, then 1 second later it will try and rev up. If i rev it off of idle curicut and then snap it, it has great response.

My ICV checked out okay on the ohm reading (40 ohms across the terminals) I have 11.5 volts at the center pin (I think its center, whichever is power) And then 6.5 volts between pin 1 and 2, and 2 and 3. The TPS is fine, and adjusted correctly. My instructors at school said it sounded like the TPS, and after i explained to them that my car doesnt have a variable TPS with a pot, they had me thinking it might be the AFM since the pot is in there. The board doesnt look to be in bad shape, but I suppose if it were to blame it would only be isolated to a small area, and id probably never see it.

    Any suggestions?

I'd be interested to hear an answer on this too...

So no responses? I dont think it has anything to do with the ICV as it seems to be functioning correctly, it hums, and holds the metering door closed as it should.

I also noticed that when the throttle is engauged from idle, the afm door opens roughly halfway (viewing the pot needle with the cap off the afm). I hear the intake suck air in, but it does not respond for about 1-2 seconds. It almost seems like the afm isnt sending signal to the computer fast enough to increase injector pulse. The only explanation I can gather is that there is high resistance in the reference signal wire, but it doesnt make sense based on the fact that response is fine any other time.

I'm still back to square one.

i have had problems before with motor swaps with all kinds of different wierd things. If you ask me I would swear it is that the computer, airbox, and wiring harness dont match with each orther. you need to find all 3 from the same car-- sounds stupid, but it has been a problem many times before. Here in germany, i just go to the yard, and grab the 3 from as many different cars as possible, and mix and match till it works. some wiring harnesses wont work in some cars too i've found. the most common problem i have come to find is the lack of revving in some cars. my last swap a few weeks ago, it wouldnt rev for crap, when i was testing it, turned out to be that there wasnt enough coolant in the system, and was messing with the computer. good luck, and have patience.
