    Gas smeel inside the car

Hi guys I´m having a lot a gas smell inside my car and I´m very warried. (Bmw e30 325e 1985)

    Help:
My car some time ago began to pull a strong smell of gas, It´s so strong that when you are in a traffic jam makes you get a headache. I check with a wide band and its ok, not rich or anything, but I have doubts whether the smell can be the catalytic that died, can that be???

Check all pipes and they are ok.

Modifications to the car: Cam 288 schrick, Headers and line with only catalytic or catalaizer and exhaust at the end.

If you walk around the car you can feel the most smell coming out from the exhaust.

    Please help!

    Thank´s!

Check for leaks in the fuel pump houses located under the rear seat, and the fuel pump o-ring seal if missed...

Second sayed ali's suggestion. I had a similar issue when I first purchased my car.

Replace the o-rings under the fuel pump covers. Should fix it, otherwise, check all of your hoses for leaks.

check the hoses and hose clamps...I had a loose hose clamp and it caused terrible smell, even though I couldnt see any physical gas leaking or residue

Check you fuel lines under the drivers side of the car. Near the fuel filter. Also check at the fuel rail. A small leak of gas inside the engine bay can be smelled in the cabin through the vents.

Replacing all of the the flexible fuel lines and their clamps is not expensive, plus it's a pretty good idea for a car that is over two decades old.

I'm going with greg, check the hose on the filler neck, notorious problem. That, along with the lines against the frame rail on the drivers side, where the hard lines are spliced via rubber hose.

There is a vent tube the runs from the top of the gas tank to a small vapor collection tank inside the passenger rear wheel well. The hose ends at a metal 3-way splitter that is notorious for rotting. Start there. Especially if you get spill out when you fill the tank or corner hard. Hope this helps.
