Sorry for bringing this thread back to life. Did some searching and haven't been able to find a good DYI on this issue. Does anybody have any links or videos?

just replace the stop, you should be fine. if left unrepaired, you will do seriour damage to the door jam.

I plan on fixing the stop, I was just looking for some DYI that would streamline the process

My Dad said he used to spot weld the car side of the stop to the edge of the hole it protrudes from. I'll be doing it to my driver's door sometime soon.

Do a search and you'll find a few DIY instructions. A couple of quick tips. The pin has a little C clip attached to the bottom of it that anchors it in place. It's easy to remove. Don't remove the clip and removal of the pin is a total bitch. The inner door panel only has to be partially removed. Enough to lift the panel up to gain access to the two door brake bolts holding the door brake in place. Putting the inner panel back on after a complete removal can also be a bitch. I've replaced a couple of these and am speaking from some experience.

Bump to see if there is any new information on accessing the part that the brake connects to inside the door jamb/behind the fender. It looks like I'd have to remove the dash to get at it from the inside and since it's inside the a pillar I don't know if removing the fender will provide any access.

Mine was making a horrible popping noise when I opened the door. It appears that bracket is spot welded to the outside A pillar and the door side of the A pillar. I could never seem to reach the inside of the pillar (I didn't try removing the dash). I ended up carefully drilling through the spot welds, drilling the A pillar slightly larger and tapping the bracket. Then using three bolts, lock washers and thread locker securing the bracket to the A pillar.

In the attached picture I highlighted the cracks with sharpie and you can see the outline of the spot welds. I hope this helps.

It's a bit late but thank you very much for your post. Absolutely helped me to locate the same issue on mine.
