    Door stop help

The door stop on my coupe has been "clanking" so I assumed it was just mechanism in door. Upon further investigation I've found that the stationary piece has broken/loosened up. How the hell do i get in there to check? Pulled kick panel and tried to look up through the speaker recess but nadda. Here's a video of the god awful noise this thing makes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLV760BpcI8

Thats your door brake and you need to replace it and the pin. The driver side is PN 41 51 1 884 163 and it cost me $30.46. The brake comes out through the door after you remove the door panel and the 2 bolts holding it to the door. The hard part is driving out the pin on the pillar without damaging anything as there is not a lot of room to swing a hammer.

Im going to switch it with my passenger side door brake and see if that truly is it. The piece it mounts to via the pin shouldn't be moving inside the door jamb/fender/footwell area and that is actually what it making the noise in this case.

Yes it's the brake. Replace it before it cracks the door frame metal.

Removing and inspecting the suspect brake is certainly the easiest and wisest next step before you start pull the passenger side

I just took the brake off my door, and it does seem worn, but the part that ^ OP is refering to is loose on mine too. its what the brake pin goes through, in the door jam. I checked out the pass side, and it is fim and tight

how do I get to this part to repair? remove fender? splash gaurd in wheel well?

New door stop....same problem. Whatever anchors the door stop (the part inside the door jamb that is a NON moving part) is the part snapping back and forth making a pop. Where can this thing be accessed and is it supposed to be welded? Is it replaceable?

Is the metal around the door stop cracked?

On the door sill yes. The supposedly stationary part is now mildly mobile causing the noise. The door itself is fine as well as the door stop.
