My IS LSD is making noise. Can I swap the LSD from my eta into my IS differential case keeping the 3.73 ratio without problems? what other LSDs will working with the 3.73 or all e30 LSD are the same? I can't seem to find a good 3.73 LSD differential and since the eta has been up on floor jacks for month now maybe I'll take it out and swap it for now. If I can find a good 3.73 that would make the job easier.

The description of the problem sounds more like wear in the differential bearings and gears than wear in the clutches. The bearings and clutches can be replaced with the parts costing about $500-600, but rebuilding a differential isn't a trivial task as clearances and pre-load must be properly set. A decent used 3.73 LSD can usually be had for $250-300.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Well sort of. You'll have to re-shim the output shaft bearings for correct end play and and probably will need to re-shim the pinion shaft for correct mesh, which also means setting correct pre-load. You might as well just rebuild the 3.73 diff you have if you are going to that much trouble. Fitting this in is 80% of the way to a full rebuild. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
