    525i/325i o2 Sensor compatability?

So, I'm in the BavAuto header group buy, and one of the things we need is a longer o2 sensor. I've been told that it was recomended to use a 525i sensor, but I can't seem to find one with the right plug. Anyone have any insight into this?

I'm in the group buy also and would be interested in confirmation of which O2 to use.

This is the one I've found a pic of when searching for a 525i: http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?part=13%20108

Part number is same as 11 78 1 735 710. If you Google search that part number Turner Motorsports sells it and shows it's compatibility: http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-34...4-e32-e31.aspx But they don't show a picture of the plug.

I'm hoping someone can verify this information.

Isn't o2 sensor the same for all cars, not just BMW? The plug is different but sensor is the same. I beleive car make or motor play no difference when choosing o2 sensor.

I did some DIY for mine (m42 motor). I bought 4 wire o2 sensor for some Ford van and spliced the original BMW plug instead of Ford plug. $40 later everything is great.

You can get 3 or 4 wire sensors at any auto part place, I got mine off ebay.

While they might be the same the idea here is to get a plug n play solution with a longer wire. I'm to the point where I'd rather pay the money for the correct part than hack up old parts to get them to work. I did enough of that to learn that it always comes back to bite you in the ass at some point, buy cheap, buy twice.

Also, I happen to have an older model car, which has a different plug, apparently.

Correct, the 87 i cars have a different plug than the 88+ i cars.

              The E34 525i M20 o2 sensor would work for 88+ E30 i cars.

the sensor will still work, but you'll have to splice the plug in fron an old one.

To the OP, I found this bav auto part number: 13 037

If you do a search for that on bavauto.com the description is as follows:

for 325is Thru 11/1987 Production Please note: Only for use with 32 019 C Bavarian Autosport header system
This might be the one for use in your car.
