    Help Needed, please

So my car decided it did want to start yesterday. Instrument panel turned on but when I tried to start the car all I got was a click, just one. Decided to replace the battery since the previous owner bought it back in 08 but I still have the same problem. I am thinking it is the starter or the solenoid since it is just one click. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Takes 30 min or less to change on a lift.

            Sounds like a starter issue

Make sure ur battery is getting charged. My e30 did this when I first bought it and it ended up being the alternator belt. It was missing a few teeth and the belt couldn't spin.

So how would I go about jumping the starter? Never heard nor do that? Thanks for the advise.

Thanks for the advise, I'll check tomorrow.

The problem happened once two months ago and again earlier this week but it would always start after a couple of tries. What is the best way to change the starter, from underneath or under the intake? Thanks for all of the advise so far, it is much appreciated.

So I replaced the starter, but while I was in there I noticed that I have a wire near the starter that isn't connected to anything. I have attached a picture of the wire. The wire is black and green. Anyone know what this is for? I haven't tried to start the car yet. I would like to know if this wire is supposed to be connected to the starter first. Thanks for the help gentlemen. The install went quick, 50 mins.

Never mind, decided to use the handy search feature. Green/Black wire is the shutoff for the HVAC and other accessories when the car is trying to start. Car is operational once again. Thanks again gentlemen for all of help.

Where'd you end up connecting the black/green wire?

The black/green wire connects to the top terminal (12 o'clock position).
