    OBD plug

Hey i have an E46 which has the 20 pin plug in the engine bay where i hook up my scanner to check engine codes and some light module programming. I noticed my 86 E30 325e also has a smaller plug near the manifold area. Can i get also a plug for that and do the same as with my E46?
    Thanx

you can read some very crude and mostly useless codes from the Motronic 1.0 DME, and reset the SI lights. but the OBD port on early E30s, and even later ones, is pretty crude compared to something like an E46. you cannot do any module programming, etc.

all you really need on an E30 for the OBD port is a paperclip (SI light reset). DME codes can be reset by unplugging the battery for a couple minutes.
