    help!

friend jacked the car u wrong and bent this piece under the car, im figuring this is the gas tank? drove it around for a while and smelt gas, the area was leaking a bit. Now the car wont start, any ideas?

Yeah your friend is an idiot.

Thats right in the pump area too. If you smell gas and its cracked and leaking, find a good used tank and get to wrenching...hopefully the pump is ok.

Yeah, I'd kick my friend in the balls and not say sorry afterwards.

It depends why the car won't start, but considering the circumstances it sounds like it could be fuel starvation. The pump could be damaged, or the bottom of the tank could have moved/blocked the pickup.

It takes five minutes or less to remove the pump and check for damage. Your gas tank is trashed and the pump is sitting right where the danage is.

just opened it up today, fuel pump was bent, got a new fuel pump but wont fit, cause of that dent. so i guess installing new fuel tank is the next thing to do

Ok, these tanks are steel so you can gently knock out the bent. Use a solid round end wooden stick and a rubber mallet to gently pound it out from inside the car. Take your time and you can make it work. It will not look pretty, but it is under the car. Good luck.

Yeah, shouldn't be too hard to push out a dent directly below the fuel pump.

ok so i unbent the fuel tank, dropped the new fuel pump in, the engine still just gives a click when i turn the ignition, could this be a bad starter? or relay?

there is a slight gap between the fuel pump and gas tank, does it have to be completely sealed?
