Throttle Issue?

I replaced my ICV and I went for a test drive. The ICV fuse blew shortly after as I was driving down the road and the motor revved and stayed at about 3500rpm on my ETA. When the car was in gear as I was going down the road I could feel the car pulling on its own. I went straight home after that and it has been sitting ever since. I tried another 15a fuse in the ICV slot and that blew after a few minutes. I'm guessing I need to check out my TPS and possibly replace it?

Fuse 9 powers the idle control module and the O2 sensor heater. That fuse blowing suggests a short in one of those. Pull the O2 sensor heater relay and see if the fuse still blows.

ok. I replaced my TPS sensor because I tested it and adjusted it and it was still not testing right. I'm still having my problem though sadly. I'll try pulling that relay after work and see what happens.


Anyone else have any clue?

yeah not me lol. I'm just trying to get some idea of how to fix it, hence why I'm asking questions. It's just frustrating, but hell it is a 25 year old car after all.

Since you replaced the ICV most recently and begin blowing the fuse, I would suggest the ICV is bad.

The only thing that can cause the fuse to blow would be a short and since you replaced the ICV, something must be wrong with it. You can check its internal coils by referencing the bentley repair manual, it has a procedure to test it.

You can pull the icv and replace the fuse. Then turn the ignition on, if the fuse still blows, you have a short elsewhere.

If it does not blow, plug your ICV in. If the fuses now blows, the ICV is defective.

Ok great. Thanks for the help. I'll try this when I get home and report back.

I know the number nine fuse controls the o2 sensor heater as well so maybe that is the culprit if the ICV is not.

I'll try pulling the heater relay if the ICV isn't the problem.
