    Engine hood isolation

    Hello guys,

not the most important question, I know, but is it harmless to run without the isolation beneath the engine hood?

I know people that say it is bad because the heath will eventually cause problems with the paint on the top of the hood. But i often see people running without the isolation like lots of guys here on the forum.
Now, is it harmfull or not?

My isolation looks bad and needs replacement, but on the other hand i would rather use the money for something else on the car. I have looked around for a similar material so i could make it on my own, but haven't found it yet ecxept for very big amounts.

And will teh engine noise increase aswell?

    Thanks mates!

it's for noise. it won't affect anything without it.

haven't had it on my hood for nearly 6 years.

I take it off of every single car I have ever had. No paint problems, that's what wax is for. ;)

I don't know anything about hood isolation but it sounds more like you are curious about insulation. It is sound deadening, you can run without it and have not other drawback. Engine noise will not increase but you will hear more of it.

Thanks guys, I will remove it. Will I notice any change in terms of time to get the engine heated up or is it 100% only for insulation purpose?

Warming the engine up won't take longer than usual, and if it does it won't be enough to make any real difference. The material really doesn't insulate for temperature as others have said, just sound.
