    need help with interior bolt/screw

i can't figure out what screw goes here. it's the 4 screws that hold the lower part of the padded knee thing and also the covering that goes over the pedals.
hopefully you understand with my stupid description. i've used various sized bolts but nothing seems to be big enough. maybe i need the clip on "body nuts" that are used in many other places in the car.
the 4 bolts hold these coverings

They are the "body nuts" you are talking about, you can get them at home depot

If I remember correctly - I want to compare the fasteners with those used in speaker mounting. The screws in my car are ~3/4-1" with a smallish hex head (not phillips or flat blade) and drive through "folded over" metal clips. The screw/bolts have wide threads for the "twisted" hole in the metal clip.

Ok cool. So they do in fact drive through the body nut (folded over metal piece) that's what I needed to know. Thanks guys.
        Wonder where all mine went.

The "folded over" metal clips are "Timmerman clips".

Those drove me crazy too, until I had an "A-Hah" moment at a junkyard.
The fasteners are 1/4 turn plastic things about an inch and a quarter long, maybe 3/8 by 3/16, slot head. The 3/8 side is serrated, not threaded.

They're very cheap at junkyards, but I bet a dealer would sell you a handful.

Posts above, OK maybe the dealer won't; junkyard it is.
