A search of the various forums shows this question has been asked before, but I've never seen an answer posted. If anyone knows, or can point me to a link, it'd be appreciated.
The timer function works properly. Click the TIMER button to display that function, and it runs and stops whenever the SET-RES button is pressed. While the timer is running the LED in the TIMER button lights up brightly. That's all good.
But, the LED in the TIMER button remains on less brightly whenever the timer is not running. That LED is always lit, even with the ignition key removed.
In my previous car the LED in the TIMER button turned off completely whenever the timer wasn't running. But in this car, a 1990 325is, the TIMER button LED has always been on since I bought the car five years ago. There do not seem to be any ill effects from this, other than it bugs me.
What's up with that? Is it trying to tell me something? Is there something I can do to fix it?
