    What is this Tube?

What is this tube? I opened up the panel to look for the source of my gassy smell (only in cold weather upon starting....weird). Anyway, I found this pair of plastic tubes with fuel line coupling them. The larger of the two seemed to have some fuel on the underside, so I replaced it with a new section of fuel hose and two new hose clamps. But what is it?

Both plastic pipes are part of the fuel expansion system. They go from where you see them through the metal conduit under the rear seat into the RR wheel well and up to the expansion tank.

Would that explain why I get gas fumes in the cabin when it's really cold?

To be clear, I'm asking about the tube on the far right/top.

It's all part of the primitive emissions system.

If there is a rupture in a hose, yes, as it carries fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the expansion tank.

Also check that the gasket for the fuel sender and pump is in tact. My dad was getting fuel smell (in his e30) and it was because the gasket was bad. I think he reused it when he replaced the pump.
