    Transmission Output Shaft Seal

My transmission's output shaft seal needs to be replaced again and I was curious if there is anything I need to do to the seal to make sure it is sealing properly. The seal I'm replacing is not that old but it seems like it just didn't sit in there right like it was loose. This new one seems like it will be a tighter fit but I want to make sure I'm installing it right so I don't have to go through this again.

Has nobody ever done this before?

Knock it in until its flush and straight. You sure the selector shaft seal isn't leaking too?

I thought my output shaft seal was leaking but it was the selector shaft seal leaking down on it. Tried to replace it anyway but couldnt get the damn nut off. Good luck!

The selector rod shaft is a common place of leakage. It is above the output shaft on the driver's side. Check that.

I bet the spring plate on top of the tranny is leaking. Despite what the typical internet buzz is, this thing actually leaks more often than both of those seals.

It's near the top rear, a little to the left side. Has 2 10mm bolts holding it on. Has 3 dome shaped portursions on it. Dealer sells an updated design.
