    Yea it is the ecu. We just call it a dme. Good luck bro. Hope you get her up and running.

    The 1.5volt coil still has me thinking though.

      THIS is what worries me. Timing belt snapped? If so, you're going to have more issues than just your DME

      Easiest way to test DME is swapping in a good one. I have had problems with mine (or thought I did) and from the general consensus I got, no real other way of testing it.

        If it did snap it happeneb wile I was trying to crank her over so im prtty sure I didnt mess up any internals but she still trys to turn over just no spark at all the only reason I suspect a timing issue is beacouse I have an inch of play on the top half of my belt I havent got aroind to pulling the cover off a really giving it a look the car is in gresham and im out in willamina so I cant get back to her till saturday ....but since there cheepe I bought a belt any way just incase .....how much play should the top half of the timing belt have?...mabey I streched it or the tentioner came loose? I dont know.any input is apriciated thax

          Take that timing belt cover off and find out for sure. If there is that much play in the timing belt and the belt is still in one piece, the tensioner must have worked itself loose. There should be very little play in a properly adjusted timing belt.

          If the timing belt has slipped and the timing marks on the pulleys are now out af alignment, even the force from cranking the engine without it actually starting can be enough to bend valves. It would probably not result in a catastrophic failure like holes in pistons, busted rocker arms or cracked head, but it would still require reconditioning the head. Ask me how I know (non E30 content).

          So if you find an issue here ... 1) try to install and properly adjust a new timing belt and then 2) perform a compression test to make sure the valves have not been bent.

          I would not waste any further time on the ECU, coil, etc. until you complete the above.

              First change your timing belt/tensioner/and probably water pump while you're in there. Then swap your DME and go from there.

                New cap rotor plugs wires timing belt tentioner dme and still no spark im getting mad ......i know its gotta be somthing so simpl that im just over looking

                  If this is on your ETA, it could be the lug on the flywheel or one of the sensors. I went through this last summer.
                  I ended up drilling a 2'' hole in the bottom of my bellhousing and welding a new lug on, then patched it up.
                  It pretty much sucked, but it forced me to change the cap, rotors,coil, and buy a spare DME for future troubleshooting.
                  Plus, I know all about the motronics for ETAs now...

                      WTF?

                      If the timing belt broke while cranking it, you've got some bent valves for sure. Don't believe me? Do a compression test and see.


                      All the spark in the world isn't gonna help if you've got bent valves.

                        ya its an eta.. but my belt didnt break at all and all my valves are fine i bought a valve cover gasket and pulled the valve cover and looked just to be sure and everything looks to be in order and i forgot to mention i also changed my ignition coil so i have changed everything i can think of that has to do with spark and still none is there a way to test the cps i mean im really at a loss hear i cant get any spark at all the car is turning over just fine i have plenty of juice plenty of feul and my maf is fine i hooked it up to my bros eta and it worked i just cant think of anything else if there is any one in the portland area that can come get my shit running i dont have much cash at the moment but i have been a tattoo artist for 15 years and have a pretty extensive portfolio i will gladly trade work for work on the spot come fix my shit and ill ink ya up after ....you can look at my work on google drive.com/onthefly36@gmail.com hit me up if you can come help or even if you just have some more helpfule hints thanx for everything guys

                          Look on the bottom of the transmission, driver's side. You will see two sensors. Pull the lower one out, if it looks like it's been hit by a piece of metal, odds are your cps lug came off. You can confirm it by looking in the hole while someone turns the engine (22mm bolt on the fan)
                          I'll post exactly what I did to fix mine later today.

                              I have no help to give, because I know nothing about cars, but I can't wait to hear WTH caused this. Always good to read these things for further knowledge.

                                Hahaha I onley buy my bitch the nicest of gifts I just boughter to 12 inch punch ones and a 7 inch fold out in dash dvd player and shes still mad at me for some reason lol but no really I think it has to be the cps I can't think of any thing else that would make her not spark if there is anything else on the list of things that could cause her not to spark please let me know and thanx again every one you have all been a huge help
