Chip for Super Eta (154 ECU)

I see that Bavauto has a chip for the Super Eta. Does anybody have any experience with it? No power increase info is published on their site.

    Thanks for any insight.

interesting. I've been fairly happy with my bavauto chip, certainly not a huge power boost, but you can't expect a lot with a simple chip swap on an M20, and it runs smoother with a higher redline. there aren't any other super eta chips I've heard of so it might be worth a try.

btw the only other chip I've tried is the "viper" chip some shady UK guy was selling a while back, and my car runs like total shit on that thing.

Nando, as far as I know nobody else offers a chip for the Super Eta. I know on the regular Eta that the JC chip gives an easy 20hp. I was hoping the hp gains would be as noticeable with what is essentially a very comparable engine.

Autothority sells a good one. This is the chip Korman uses for their super etas. Nice power increase, up to 141 or so, with more torque. It's not biased toward the high end either. Better drivability from idle. Wayyyy better than the stock chip. Love mine...

        From the AutoThority site:

Our AutoThority chip upgrade provides your car with a 17 horsepower gain at the wheels and improved torque to go along with it. The low-end torque and throttle response are improved and the driveability is smooth throughout the entire power band. The performance can be felt right away as your car will speed through the revs quickly before reaching the raised rev limiter. The rev limiter has been raised 300 RPM in each gear and there is no top speed limiter. Our AutoThority Performance Chip is a simple upgrade and comes with full instructions on how to install it in your car.
        Price: $309.00

Old, thanks for the figures. I will have to keep my eyes peeld for a used chip, as $300 is pretty steep.

Hey! Who you callin' Old?! I'm only 42! :D

I looked for a used one for a year before I bought a new one. These cars are sorta rare to begin with, and not many people know they can chip them, so....I hope you'll be more fortunate than I....

...really, though, if you can spring for one, the difference is pretty significant. That flat spot under accelleration is gone and highway passing is substantially improved...

I had made a prototype super eta chip about 18 months ago, and tested in one car. The owner of that car had some non-related problems so I we stopped testing. If enough people are interested in this, I'll revive this project. I'd like to sell that chip for $219

If you need a test bimmer I'm an hour away (unless you already have someone in mind)

Sure I could use you. Did I talk to you a few years back about this? (I had talked to someone in that area)

Please send me an email so I can contact you.

                      -I've heard you (Mark D) also have a chip for a s-eta with a b25 cam, 2x valvesprings, and 173 DME. True?

Mark, I'd be interested in such a chip for the 154 box. $300 from the competition is just too much (all due respect to those happy with their chips).

Old ('n Slow) -- Yeah these cars are limited to their single year of production. When I looked into the subject about 5 years ago the story I read on the Internet was that it wasn't worth the chip tuner's time as it didn't yield the HP gains of other E30 models.
More likely, the chip tuners wanted to spend their efforts on creating a chip that would span multiple years and number of vehicles produced.

Either way--I see I'm not alone in wanting one :)

what ever happened to this? I may be interested in this chip if it is released. Whats the status?

I'd be willing to test one, if a tester is needed. :)

I've been busy with renovations to my house and working on a contract. I still plan to develop it, I will try to have a test version ready around late April.
