    Windshield wiper motor BAD.

So my windshield wiper motor on my 89 vert is messed up, and needs replaced. Anyone know how to do it or how hard it is?

It's raining a lot here in the south lately. So I need my wipers baby!!

I'm doing a motor swap and still struggled for an hour to replace the motor with the engine out.
Good luck with the engine in!

the easiest way is to take the motor off the linkage...after you wiggle that out its like a half hour job. I tried it the other way (all together) solid 3+ hour ordeal. Get the ratcheting box wrenches from craftsman.

that is exactly how it should be done

Once you understand it, its easy to get the motor out. The linkage on the other hand, has still baffled me....so i have my mono setup still not installed.

Linkage becomes very simple once you realize there are two clips that hold the back side of the blower housing in place. Remove the clips and the housing and it slides out.

the motor isn't hard at all. unbolt it from the linkage, remove the plastic cover (you have to deform it a little but no big deal), unplug it. done.

put the new motor back in, plug it in, put the cover back on, cycle it once before connecting the linkage, that's pretty much it..

the linkage isn't hard either, as long as you're willing to remove the intake manifold to get to it. I just replaced mine last year, it finaly failed after 20 years in the rainy PNW.

Did it in my 87 IS this summer. took about 30 minutes and some monkeying around with a 10mm ratcheting wrench. If you need a motor I just happen to have one on my parts car! Can get a video of me removing it if that helps.

Definitely a crap job especially if you don't have tiny hands. Getting under the motor to get the nuts really sucks. Once you've done it once it isn't awful, but your first time will take 1hr+.
