    Instrument Cluster Lights explanation

There is an indicator towards the bottom of the instrument cluster.
It has a bunch of green bars followed to the right by a yellow bar and then a red bar.

When the car is in "ACCESSORY" mode (key turned in ignition but car not started), three green bars (the most left 3 green bars) light up.
When the car starts, they turn off.

What the heck is this for?

How do you reset after an oil change?

        Does M42's require valve adjustments?

Is this my first e30? Yes....

I do believe there is a there is a Diagnostic Plug on your car that you have to buy a special electrical device for it and with that you can reset those lights. Not 100% on that but pretty sure lol. There is also a sketchy way of jumping certain ports on the plug and then doing a couple of other things and it might reset them.

If you have the Bentley then the answers to your questions can be found there. BTW, this topic has been covered many times. A quick Google search will give you plenty of answers.

Do yourself a favor and read the owners manual of your car. You will learn a lot about it.
