    Blower Fan Ticking Noise

Occasionally, my blower fan ('87 vert) will make a slight ticking noise on the lower HVAC speeds (1 and 2). The blower fan itself works fine and I can usually make the noise go away immediately by simply cycling up to the highest speed and then cycling back down to a lower speed. The ticking noise sounds like the plastic fins from the fan making very slight contact or rubbing (it does not sound like the motor itself).

Given that my blower fan is still working and I would prefer not to pay $$ for a replacement, I was wondering if you could suggest a possible fix. Do you think that I could reposition the fan and oil the bearings to resolve the problem? I am guessing the fan could have gone unbalanced... resulting in a slight rub. If you have any thoughts or personal experience, please let me know.

    Thanks, Marc

There could be something in the fan housing, of it could have a bad impeller. Pull the covers and have a look.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I dont know how the covers can become dislodged unless someone messed with them, but when I reinstalled my blower it made the same noise due to the cover not sitting perfectly in place. I quick adjustment was all that was needed.

The fan has been completely silent all week - running perfectly! If it ticks again, I will open up. Thanks for your responses.
