What's the mileage and what does the cylinder wall look like? If the piston dinged the wall when you dropped the valve I'd say it's machine shop time.

What are your intentions for the motor?

as long as there isnt damage to the side of the piston, you should be fine. but valve clearance is going to be your biggest issue. most machine shops will clean that up though. just give it to them and they'll know what to do... again assuming there isnt damage to the sides.

had something blow up in 2 of my combustion chambers, scored up the pistons pretty bad and they came out good as new after i took it to the local machine guy.

After I remove the oil pan if I decide to take out the piston is it difficult to pull the piston? I just plan on Dailey driving it, no FI or anything like that. Like I said the walls are okay. I was just told that the crevices in it might get hotter then they should and expand and ruin the walls..

This is sounding more and more like a machine shop project. I'd also be worried about the rod bearings if the piston hit the valve hard enough... Take it somewhere that can check all those tolerances and buy a bentley manual for all the other stuff!

a valve hitting that hard definitely bent the piston skirt ,so cylinder will have excessive clearance leading to piston slap and oil consumption, not to mention upper piston ring land is probably pinched shut
