    M-tech II wheel on SRS/Airbag car (another question)

    apologies in advance for resuscitating this topic:

    (I've did due dilligence w/search but if I missed something kindly point me on my way...)

    ...putting an M-Tech II steering wheel on a 1991 airbag car, so far so good...

    I have a temporary spacer behind the wheel (hello unnamed part from the plumbing supply store) ...I can drive and turn fine...

    Three questions:

    - what combination of washers/spacers are people using to mount the M-Tech wheels on srs/airbag cars?

    - If I don't use the spacer behind the steering wheel the the wheel rubs and 'clicks' against something;

    but... with the spacer in behind the wheel, the stalk doesn't reset itself (not a big deal, but I wish it did... )

    - that 'something' (I'm guessing) is the white plastic thing -- the release for the steering wheel lock (?);

    I've read on other threads about people cutting that off... I dunno if I want to do that... does anyone have any thoughts?

    thanks in advance for your help, comments, expert guidance...

    good questions, i went through this a few weeks ago with an mtech 1.

    i ended up picking up another one of those metal collars/spacers, one to use in front of the wheel under the nut. also, that white piece of junk needs to go; i didnt know it was a problem until i went to turn and it broke. after doing some research i found its not necessary for non-bag wheels, so i drilled it out (was the easiest way at the time) and things seem to be good.

        np man. btw at the time i couldn't find any cars being parted or with that collar available, so i ordered from pelican parts (got the p/n from realoem) and it was like $4.xx something

          You need a spacer that still allows the wheel to flush up against the back of the steering column; if it doesn't, your stalks won't return after you complete the turn.

          The white nub that sticks out is what your clicks noise is. Its for the air bag ring. You'll have to remove it. It's spring loaded. You can grab it with pliers and pull it out.

          RISING EDGE

          Let's drive fast and have fun.

            Just pick up another one of those washer things from a junk e30 and your good to go.
