The coolant sensor overhead check light on my m20b25 is on.
    Radiator is full of coolant.
Is this sensor actually read by the ecu to adjust idle or does it just tell you when you're out of coolant?
I do have hard starting and a slight misfire.
    Thanks guys.

Is this the one in the reservoir or near the fuel injectors?

Coolant level sensor only. It's the sensor in the tank. If full, the sensor may need to be replaced.

So the sensor inside the tank does get read by the ecu?

No. It's for the idiot light in the check panel.

The ECU temperature sender is in the thermostat housing.

Didn't think people would be on r3v at 2am. Lol.
            Thanks mr325 answered my question.
People always think something is wrong with my car because I have three check lights on
low beam, coolant, and brake lights. All of them work though.

Mine does the same thing too. I tried switching check panels, but it keeps doing those things even when things are working. I'm not sure whether it has to do with current, ground, or its just simply the panel that's acting up.

Something is wrong with your car either way. Bad sensors, bad resistances, etc.
