    E30 Won't Start (Electrical Issue)

I bought a "project" from a guy down the street to use as a knock around Auto-X car, but it's proving to be more difficult than I had imagined.

The car started off as an '87 325E with an automatic, and the PO did a 2.5/5spd conversion. He said he drove it around quite a bit before putting it up for storage.

I dropped a battery in the car a week ago, and turn the key to start - nothing. The gauges move, the windows roll up and down, all of the lights/blinkers work, but there is NOTHING when you try and crank the engine.

Under the driver's dash, it looks as if he's disconnected a bunch of stuff, but he said that he hadn't touched a thing on it, and it ran when put up.

The only thing I can imagine is that there is a clutch switch, or maybe a neutral switch that isn't hooked up, and that's what is keeping the car from firing. Is there any way to bypass this stuff?

I'll post pics shortly of what the underside of the dash looks like...

Try a screwdriver to jump the starter. It could be the starter has gone bad.

Did any of these cars come with a clutch switch? The two I've owned didn't have one, but it looks like this one has something there. Maybe it's for the cruise control?

The car is currently in some tall grass, and I'll only have an hour or so tomorrow to try and crank it.

I read somewhere about being able to cross some diagnostic pins in the engine bay to spin the motor? Would this work, or atleast give me a starting point?
