    Dirty, nasty, coolant.

My coolant hoses look like shit :curse:

The insides are lined with a rust colored slime (rust?) and I've washed them out the best I can, but I know that I'm not going to be able to get inside the engine block. I have used low-quality coolant in a pinch before, and I can only assume that's the reason for this.

Anybody have a good method to really clean out all that precipitate?

I have this same issue (PO's fault, as always ;-)). I have done a bit of research and have heard that vinegar works well. That's what I'm going to try when I refresh my coolant.

It's broken down Dexcool coolant. The stuff breaks down if the cooling system is ignored for too long. Get your cooling system flushed out and filled with fresh coolant.

Oxalic acid, if you can find some.

I'll give vinegar a shot on some of the hoses I pulled. Any reason I shouldn't make a mix of water/vinegar to fill the system?

That's the plan, but I can't imagine that this stuff is just going to disappear. I want it out! haha.
