Oh, and when we tell you to do something, either do it as we say or fuck off. This is R3V, the best place to get info on your car, period. Dealership asshats don't give a fuck about your stupid 20 year old car, while we adore these cute little badass cars.

Quick instructions for your second test: remove the green/black wire from the starter and connect it to ground. You can do it all ghetto and wrap a wire around the terminal and tape it, this is only a temporary solution.

Once you ground that wire and have your key on, you should have windows and HVAC fan IF your relay is good.

Do not turn the key on until you have disconnected that wire from the starter, you will cause smoke.

You can find all of that stuff in great detail (albeit clear as mud) in the ETM.

No I haven't fixed it properly yet though. I have bigger problems, like no transmission, to fix first. The only way to fix it righttl is to install a new starter. But it doesn't hurt anything having it "fixed" like I do. A friend had the exact same problem and did the same fix about 8 months ago, no exploded world yet :)

Hey so I took a quick look while I could at the starter and I couldn't distinct a green and black wire from the rest. Is it easily visible from the top? I'm feeling a little dumb here.

Are you serious???? There is only one green/black wire going into the starter. Wipe it clean if you cannot tell the colors of the wire.

Bad results. Something didn't know go as planned. Where the green/black wire was attached to the starter it was crimped so I pulled out the nut it was suppose to be on but it came out like this. Pictures will help my explaining.

This is the screw plus bolt thing that the crimp from the green/black wire was on.

So when I try to crank the motor the starter just spins freely until I disconnect the battery.. Then when I connect the battery it keeps spinning. How did I manage to fuck this up, I don't know. But I am critical need of you guys and I am only 16 years old so help me out here.

The end of the wire circled in red is the one I pulled off that I thought was the green/black and it had a crimp on it that connected between the nuts on the screw.

One of two things are gonna happen here. You are either replacing that POS starter-let me make this part FUCKING clear-that was dead before you touched it...or you are paying someone else to replace it.

Oh yeah...it is a pain in the ass, but if I can get my giant fingers in there, so can you.

If you are poor, find a good used one. Do NOT go to ANY autoparts store for a reman, they are mostly complete crap and your money is better off spent on a low-mile used one.

That is the part that a lot of people struggle with.



Also, OP, I didn't think I needed to say it, but since I see you are probably new to cars being 16, the wire you would have been trying to pull off the connector would have been one of the smaller wires, if not the smallest on the starter.

I'm not sure if there is any fixing that starter now. Your money would probably be best spent having someone on thus forum that is local to help you replace the starter. That way they can help teach you along the way.

Also worth mentioning that when you install the new starter, that tiny nut does not hold the entire car together. Please refrain from tightening it like it does, or shit like this tends to happen.
