    trying to drop my steering column on airbag car

    anyone know where the shear bolts are? I do not see them... pictures would be fantastical!

    May be different on an airbag car, but on my non-airbag there is a U-shaped bracket holding the column up. This is attached with 2 shear bolts, one on either side about 1ft down the column from the wheel. Should be fairly obvious with all shrouds etc. removed.

      this is a ****ed up job. If you are laying directly underneath the dash with the top of your head close to the pedals the shear bolts are tucked up right behind the ignition switch. On late model cars there are brackets that fasten the steering column in place. There is a shear bolt on each side with a plastic retainer disk that slides into place. I used a dremel to remove the shear bolts in order the drop the column. its a pain in the ass. good luck!

        I was under the dash and didnt see them LOL so I am kind of lost and also blind as a bat haha
