    sunroof gasket interchangeability

The sunroof in my E30 is a little leaky, but not too bad. A janky old 1986 528e parts car popped up on CL and since it has the same engine as the 325e, I figured I'd snag some parts. It also has a sunroof, so if it fits then I can replace it. Does anybody know if the sunroof seal from a 5 series would fit a 3 series? Also, any driveline or suspension components?

Planning on going there this weekend or next. If anybody wants any parts, let me know.

Also, I might end up being a wuss and doing an auto swap if the trannies can be swapped. Because I'm not good with a manual and I don't feel that it adds to the driving experience.

Why would you want to replace a +20 year old gasket with another +20 year old gasket? That makes no sense.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I guess you're right. Didn't think it was an age issue but just a matter of it having a defect or something. But I guess the defect is that it's older than me. A new one is around $80 and I didn't want to spring for one right now because I'm about to move into a new place and money is pretty tight at the moment.

your leak is because the drains are clogged, not because the gasket is old. the sunroof gasket doesn't even try to prevent water from getting through.
