    alternator internet myth?

found this little gem while searching to buy a new voltage regulator.

"OK here's an easy one that I did once. You know that alternator idiot
    >light in your dash? If that bulb is burned out your alternator won't
    >charge the battery. Check the light and make sure it is working..."

has to be true if it's on the internet, right?

    thanks,
    robert w.

Depends on how the light is wired. Some cars are the way you describe.

After about 1987, BMW put a resistor in there to prevent just that.

Your ETM will tell you if you have one or not.
