    speedo and odometer inoperable

My speedo and odom isn't working.

thing I have done so far:

replaced the sending unit in the diff
replaced two good working inst clusters and still no change.

the tach, fuel gauge and temp gauge all work.

Broken wire between sender and cluster?

Clean and tighten up the connector for the speed sensor. It is known to get oxidized and corroded. Members have even mentioned these connectors breaking off inside the wires. So you will have to suspect possible breaks.

Measuring the brown/red wire at the cluster, in c1, white connector you should see a pulsed signal while the wheels are spinning (on jack stands so you can put into drive.)

the wires and connectors aren't corroded at all. I tightened them down just to be sure. Am I suppose to get power to the sensor? I see a brown wire and brown with red. Would a test light be enough to show whether live or not?

update: my vision needs to be checked; upon further double checking fuse 12 was blown... URGH!!!!!

          speedo working.

Good find. To answer your question, no there is no power sent to the rear diff speedo connector. Only ground and return pulsed ground signal. No power.
