Battery Relocated?

came across this image of an E30 under the hood, did any E30s ever come with the battery located under the hood? I thought all E30s had their battery in the trunk on the passenger side...

that's an early 318i. they came with batteries in the engine bay. so did convertibles and lots of other models of the E30.

All E30 convertibles have battery under the hood. I actually like having it in the trunk - makes the engine bay look cleaner

I have seen a 1987 325is with the battery under the hood, but that long positive cable is still there that runs to the trunk...

anybody know why anyone in the past would have relocated the battery to under the hood?

people do all sorts of hack job stuff. It's probably best not to try and rationalize the decisions made by irrational people.
