    Fuel filter question

Hey guys. So I just replaced my fuel filter, but I saw this filter like device right after(towards the car) the fuel filter. Mine is really corroded and I would like to change it. Does anyone know what it is? its like 2-3 inches long. After the fuel filter, theres like 2 inches of hose, then it connects to this small filter. Any info on it would help, thanks!

Sounds like an extra filter someone installed in the past. I'd just remove it you only need the stock one

I think you might be looking at an absorber. Part # 16121178035

Bingo. That's it. Is this something very crucial in the system? Should I replace it if its all rusted out?

Since BMW engineers spent many years designing designing this cars I personally would keep it. But several people in this forum have removed it without any issues (so they say). IMHO clean it up, paint it and if it is not rusted through put it back on.

You can remove it. It will not harm anything.

Sure it's not your high pressure fuel pump?

                I removed that.

                So far, no problems!

                (no, it doesn't run, either)
