Door Handle Help! (Exterior)

I was prepping my car for a detail today and realized that my driver's side door handle feels weird when pulling it to open the door. specifically, the internal mechanism has different tensions on each end (left side raising high when pulling compared to left). As a result, the door handles are pulled at an angle every time

Something feels stuck so I'm wondering what if any, are common problems with this mechanism and how do you adjust/remove it?

Dunno how to fix it but to get to it, you're gonna have to remove your door card to access the inner workings.

From your interior, slide the plastic surrounding the handle back and it will pop off, use a flat head to gently pry out the mirror control on the door handle, then use a phillips head to undo the screws holding the handle to the door. They are on the bottom and there are 3 if i remember correctly. From there, you'll be able to pop off the door card, Be careful about snapping the grommets or breaking the door card

^this. the rear driver's side door on the '89iX wouldnt open for years. One day I decided I had enough. Took the door panel (card) off and sprayed the mechanism with Aero Kroil (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0125xMPTLSx025).

Then i went to the outside and pushed my big ass body against where the door and body meet a bunch of times and tried to pull the inner door handle while the car was shaking side to side. Eventually the door opened.

Think of hitting the door with your hip to shut it when your hands are full of groceries. Kinda like that motion.

yeah all you have to do is remove the door card, and you'll see access holes to adjust the level of the handle prongs.

Best thing to do is screw the handle back in on the outside, and adjust accordingly (from the back side) w/ the handle in place. That way you are certain of a proper level with the handle on there.

Did the handle sit proper or was it angled w/ the handle on there?
