Late model fuel pump in Early model

Hey guys, just needing some clarification:

I have an 87 325e, in-tank transfer pump with the high pressure in front of the driver's rear wheel. I went down and grabbed my 91 318iS in-tank pump and the assembly, as well as the correct plug-end. From the threads that I can find, I replace the large 3/8ths hose with 5/16ths to the fuel filter, remove the high pressure pump, and all works as intended?

    Thanks,
    Ian

    Yep.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Just use the old level sender or your gauge is going to be all wacky.

so, the car isn't getting fuel. Any ideas? I can hear the pump running when cranking. Only thing I can figure is that I might have reversed the lines? I went over them several times and they're correct, but stranger things have happened...

Also, thanks for the help guys, I do appreciate it.

Check for a plugged fuel filter? I'd test that first but while you have the line off under there put a bucket underneath, crank the car for a bit, and see if you have fuel. Hook the filter back up and then do the same thing from the fuel rail.

Fuel filter is about two weeks old, definitely not plugged. Bucket test sounds like a plan.

Sure. Once I'm done wearing it...

The gauge will work fine, though, since all the senders were the same.
