    Here's a quick one:

Sorry about all my newb questions, but is the TPS supposed to be full of oil?

    Cause mine was.

    You're throttle body or TPS?

Either way oil tends to collect there because of the valve cover recirculation hose that goes from the valve cover to the throttle body.

Excessive oil loss through the intake can also be a sign of blow-by or worn out valve seats.

      In a word...NO.

This is the number one cause of issues with the TPS. You can open it up, clean it out and seal it with some silicone.

        k

I took the TPS off the throttle body (still chasing down that stupid idle problem) and set it on the ground. When i picked it up, it'd drained a large amount of oil.

The oil was inside? or did it just collect on the outside? Does it still work?

It was on the inside of the TPS itself. I have no idea if it still works. I'm slapping it all back together and giving it a shot.

Or i would be if i hadnt dropped one of the throttle body nuts. Now i have to find a replacement. It's dissapeared into the engine compartment somewhere, and didnt come out the bottom.

I would make extra sure you didn't lose it in the intake manifold or somewhere where it could be sucked into the engine else your biggest problem might not be just your idle.

I wasnt worried about dropping it up ;)

I found it, it'd gotten itself into a little out of the way area in the steering rack.

Now i've got everything back together and the car is idling around 1500rpm, and running real rough (whole car shakes a little)

It just dies under load. Wtf? I'm out of ideas again.

                    Last update.

It runs the exact same with the oxygen sensor disconnected as it does with it hooked up.

Now you have a vacuum leak.. or you forgot to reconnect the AFM, or you didn't adjust the TPS right.

How's the TPS supposed to be adjusted? I just put it on there so it clicked when the throttle opened.

It should click when the throttle is jsut started to open. You really need a ohmeter to see if it's working properly or not though.

It's just a simple switch. Use the Bentley or even the haynes.

I hooked it up right, but i dont know if the sensor itself is working. I'll have to test it tomorrow (it's getting late)

                            Another possible wtf:
The line going from the throttle body to the charcoal canister is suspect, and from what i've been reading, it's supposed to have some sort of check valve on it

                            #19 in that picture.

I dont have one of those.
