    Impact wrench advice

Soon to perform full suspension rebuild. Also replacing motor/trans mounts and trans output/gear selector seals.

I currently don’t have an impact wrench.

    .. so I :
    a) will want one
    b) will want one badly
    c) will need one
    d) dude – just go get one

working in larger size garage stall with power outlets.
Kind of leaning toward an electric impact.
    - el cheap-o from local Harbor Freight = ~ $70
    - DeWalt or Milwaukee model = ~ $160

Another affordable route would entail a low-volume / high pressure air compressor + pneumatic impact
    - ~ $120 for compressor + ~ $55 for pneumatic

It would be an investment in tool inventory and useful down the road.
However, I’m not into heavy mechanical work as profession or hobby. Mostly into basic motorcycle and car maintenance where an impact driver (smack w/ hammer) has served well so far.

So yeah, still inclined to go with cheap-o electric impact to “get me through this rebuild project”.

    Input/advice/recommendations/criticisms appreciated

if you went ahead anf got the compressor there are other uses down the road for it while the electric has just a single purpose.

I ended up getting the compressor...I got this Husky kit from home depot, it came with a big 26 gal. air compressor, Air impact wrench, ratchet, paint sprayer, grease gun and a whole bunch of other stuff..i got a grinder for it for $20 too. The whole kit cost me $250. Totally worth it.

EDIT: You wont regret getting the compressor.

Somewhere inbetween A and B. You'll want it bad for the top nuts on the struts; and the output flange nut too.

I absolutely love it. More useful than my 1/2" impact IMO.

                    Opted for pneumatic.

Felt like a kid with new toys today.

Installing a water catch tomorrow.. seems like a wise thing to do.

I have a Snap-on Bluepoint 3/8" gun. It is strong enough for 95% of the jobs I do and it is compact enough to fit in tight spots.
