    My Sunroof Nightmare

    Hey guys.

I decided to fix my sunroof. It has turned into a nightmare.

I got a motor and switch from a junker and noticed it wouldn't slide back. Took the lid off and one of the arms was busted. Went to the parts car and removed the assembly but I cut the cables in the junker to access the arms. Now I'm realizing that that was a stupid idea since t can't exactly pull the cables out of the slide.

Also I love how you can't just change the arm....

What should I do? The lid is off the car and I would like to fix this soon.

    Here's some pics

Also my cables are out of line so I'm unsure how to fix that

The E30 sunroof is a mess. I deleted the function of mine. I made a special bracket and just bolted it in place and removed the rest of the stuff, and then just glued some black fabric as a headliner and looks OK now.

You rack is screwed. Replace with a different unit. I had my cables get all screwy before. Was able to get it back in line just to shoot out my headliner a month later. Moral of the story is replace it.

Slow down, take breaks if you get frustrated, don't be hamfist.

Shit. I already sliced the shit out of my finger trying to take out the silver rail slide off the donor. I guess I'll take more parts out of it.

I'm thinking of dremeling of the piece that holds the cable to the slide......

              No dremel required.

This may help you, it gives good step by step pics how to R&R the panel. https://db.tt/SH947cZg
