    Check Engine Light problems

I have a 1986 325e. I have a check engine light and it is blinking when I turn the car on. I would like to read the code, but the stomp test (5 depressions of the gas pedal) doesn't seem to start the code output. The light just keeps blinking.

Which version of motronic do I have? 1.0? If so, does that mean there are no codes to read?

I was under the impression that motronic 1.0 equipped cars do not have check engine lights.

    Thanks!

Not sure about the motronic differences, but sometimes it takes a couple tries to get the stop test to work.

I had to adjust the slack in my throttle cable to get my stomp test to work. If I recall (and somebody please correct me if I'm wrong) but you have to hear an audible click when you release the throttle all the way. Otherwise the stomp test will not work...

If you have an ETA engine with Motronic 1.0, which you do unless swapped by a previous owner, you do not have a "Check Engine" light. Make sure you aren't confusing "Check Engine" with "Check" light.

No ETA DME supports the stomp test. Nor does the 153 DME as used in 9/86-8/87 i/is/ic cars.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Hey you should buy OBD 2 Scanner to read code, then check engine codes
