Am I missing something on my brake booster hoses?

    1991 318is

I'm getting rid of "the mess under the intake" and replacing all the other hoses I'm touching while I'm at it.

So I'm trying to find the part #s for the brake booster hoses and the realoem diagram doesn't look like my setup. It looks like I have two hoses, and a connector of some sort and that connector looks like it has threads for something else to screw onto.

    Any ideas?

The "connector" is a check valve. There is no need to replace any of that if it is still in good shape. The hose they used here is much more stout and generally doesn't need to be replaced. If you really want to replace the hose, it is just standard vacuum line that you can buy from any auto parts store. Take the old hose with you and match up the size. Replace the clamps with worm-drive style hose clamps if you don't want to use the crimp on style.

False, it's not standard vacuum line. That would collapse. You need stiffer hose for the booster.

Standard vacuum line is designed not to collapse. The same amount of vacuum is applied to all hoses. The booster line doesn't have any more pressure on it than any other hose.

There is specific hose intended for brake booster lines. That's what I use when replacing it.

Your valve looks odd- haven't seen one like it, and it kinda looks like something else
                that got torn apart.

At some point, BMW got paranoid about vacuum loss under throttle, and did
some weird shit with a venturi and crap. I couldn't see the point-
all you need is a bit of stiff hose (baby) and a 1- way valve and you're good.
Mine came from an eta, and works fine.

It's kind of like the mess under the manifold and the heater core thermostat-
it DOES do something, just not something I'm too freaked about.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
